In the Helsinki Chamber Choir’s previous Klang concert, very few of the works programmed had a traditional text. This year, the balance is redressed with a selection of works that are very word-centred. Every text has its context; composers and audiences create contexts for texts and compositions, and their meanings depend on these contexts. By coming to the concert you too affect the context of the music performed!

Zesses Seglias’ composition [α-] won him the Einojuhani Rautavaara Prize in 2012, and Ville Raasakka’s large-scale new work sets texts by the poet Kristiina Wallin.

The work with them was exciting and efficient. They have a particular ability to adapt themselves to a different sound and aesthetic conception. Their flexibility and enthusiasm gave me the the possibility to work in-depth because of the individual human, vocal and musical qualities of each singer.
